Here's what your membership actually includes

If you haven't seen what it costs yet, or want to come to a meeting before deciding, that's all on the Membership page. There are so many reasons why you should consider joining MJOC and here are some of them.

Insurance through Four Wheel Drive Victoria

Your membership includes insurance arranged by Four Wheel Drive Victoria (FWDV) through Affinity Insurance Brokers: combined public and products liability, personal accident, management liability and professional indemnity cover. It's part of your fees, not an add-on.
The principal covers arranged are:
• Combined Public and Products Liability Insurance
• Personal Accident Insurance
• Management Liability Insurance
• Professional Indemnity Insurance

FWDV doesn't hold an Australian Financial Services Licence; they've arranged this cover on affiliated clubs' behalf. For full policy terms, or to confirm your entitlement to cover, contact Affinity Insurance Brokers on 1300 655 850 or FWDV directly. Full policy documents are available once you're a member.

Free driver training

MJOC has trained Jeep owners since 1997, and it's free for members and their family. Whatever you already know about your Jeep, our instructors teach the safe, correct way to drive and recover it; no guesswork from YouTube.

Members also get a discount on FWDV's accredited courses: Nationally Accredited 4WD, chainsaw and first aid. Complete your Proficiency training and you're cleared to book onto our Medium, Difficult and Very Difficult rated trips.

Trip leaders and graded trips

Every MJOC trip is rated Easy, Medium, Difficult or Very Difficult, and run by a trained Trip Leader: someone who's completed our Advanced Driver Training and Trip Leader Training, not just someone confident with a keyboard.

New members are welcome on any Easy trip or social event straight away, no training required. Complete your Proficiency training to move up to Medium, Difficult and Very Difficult trips, matched to your vehicle and experience.

Monthly meetings and social events

There's more to MJOC than Jeeps and 4WD tracks: it's the people, the get-togethers and the laughs in between. We hold monthly members' meetings and social events throughout the year: a relaxed, informal chance to catch up with old friends, meet fellow Jeep owners and talk all things Jeep.

Dinner's on us! Pizza, hot dogs or pasta, depending on the night; plus drinks and plenty of time to socialise. There's also a monthly raffle with prizes up for grabs; just come along and grab a ticket. Meetings are generally held at Ashwood Hall in Mount Waverley.

Club Permit Scheme for older Jeeps

If your Jeep is more than 25 years old and roadworthy, MJOC's VicRoads Club Permit Scheme gives you 45 or 90 days of registered use a year: H plates for standard vehicles, M plates for modified ones needing an Engineer's or VASS certificate. You need to be a current financial member to join the scheme, and to stay one: a lapse in membership can see your vehicle unregistered after 14 days.

Giving back to our community

MJOC has been involved in volunteer work since our early years: bushfire relief with BlazeAid, track clearing and bush clean-ups alongside Four Wheel Drive Victoria, Parks Victoria and DEECA. Members have delivered water and supplies to farmers, rebuilt fences, helped at the Narbieview Wildlife Shelter and pitched in on fire-damage clean-up.

Backed by Four Wheel Drive Victoria

Membership makes you a member of Four Wheel Drive Victoria (FWDV) too; the peak body for four-wheel-drive clubs in the state. FWDV has been advocating for track access for more than 50 years, and works with Parks Victoria, DEECA and other land managers to keep tracks open for everyone.
