The Ultimate Desert Adventure 2025
At the Melbourne Jeep Owners Club we run 4WD trips all over Australia. From the local ranges, Victorian high country and the deserts of western Victoria our experienced trip leaders take you on some amazing adventures. We also run some great interstate trips such as the annual trip to the beaches and dunes of South Australia around Beachport and Robe or further out to central Australia and beyond.
In 2025 the Melbourne Jeep Owners Club (MJOC) are planning the greatest overlanding trip we have ever done. Australian Geographic says there are 10 named deserts in Australia. and on this trip we will cross all of those deserts. This adventurous trip is being planned to tackle almost every iconic desert destination in the country and it is all being done in our Jeeps. Final preparations are being done to vehicles and equipment and members are rearing to go. The trip is planned in segments to enable members to do all sections or just some depending on personal holiday schedules.
Part 2 is an east to west crossing of the Simpson Desert from Birdsville to Dalhousie Springs most probably on the WAA line.
Part 3 is from Dalhousie north to Mt Dare then on to Alice Springs via Chamber's Pillar.
Part 4 is across the Tanimi desert via the Tanimi Track and Wolfe Creek Crater to Halls Creek. At this point we will take a 5 day break. You can take the time to fly back to Melbourne or fly your spouse up or just re-stock supplies and repair any mechanical or tyre issues before we enter the CSR. Its also where members who just want to do the CSR part of the trip can rendezvous with the main group.
Part 5 is the Canning Stock Route to Wiluna. This is the big one. 1800km off road with one fuel stop.
Part 6 is into the Great Victoria Desert via the Anne Beadell Highway, turning south on the Connie Sue Highway to cross the Nullarbor Highway near Cocklebiddy to finish on the beach at Twilight Cove.
Part 7 is back up to the Nullarbor Highway then straight home on the black top. Wow! This is the ultimate desert adventure that may not have been attempted before. Another great reason why you should consider joining the best Jeep club in the land.
