This is the equivalent of an MJOC trip "staycation".

If you haven‘t heard of Tourist Drive 2 - I wouldn‘t be surprised!

It‘s not well advertised, but there are relics remaining of the Tourist Drive 2 badges peppered through out Melbourne.

It tracks from Williamstown to Warrandyte, following the Yarra on the closest roads it can, passing a number of iconic Melbourne sites and streets.

This will be a cruisey trip - stopping at a couple of interesting spots along the way (TBD) and could be ideal for kids/dogs that can stand to be in the car for some traffic.

With a trip like this, there is high potential for getting lost, but I have a secret weapon - I‘ve mapped out the entire route into a Google Maps format that can be shared! Between that and UHF radios, we should be able to navigate the lights and other vehicles on our journey.

Our June Members meeting will be at 7:30pm on Tuesday 25th June, 2024.

Stuart Gibson will be giving a short spiel on his 2025 Desert adventure that has the following tagline:
Australian Geographic says there are 10 named deserts in Australia. On this trip, we will cross all of those deserts!
This is a massive undertaking, which has never been done before! A ridiculous amount of time and energy has been poured into the planning and given Stuart has already accomplished many Simpson desert trips, this is surely going to be a once in a lifetime experience!

Satphone Shop will be presenting a "Satellite 101" session and will be providing all members who register on the link below with a free show-bag gift:
https://www.mjoc.org.au/handlers/celinks.ashx?id=15709

Satphone Shop Presentation Agenda:
- Demystify satellite phones
- Different satellite networks, how they operate & their differences
- Airtime, unscramble the options. Which one is right for you?
- Satellite phone models, what’s available?
- Satellite messengers, what do they do exactly?
- Starlink – What is it & will it do everything when travelling remote?
- Other products for remote communications
- Great opportunity to ask questions to the expert panel.

Satphone shop will also be providing over $1000 worth of merchandise for the raffle!

This is sure to be another great presentation, so please come along either in person or via zoom!

The meeting will be held in our normal venue at 21A Electra Avenue Ashwood. As per normal Pizza and drinks will be available from 7:00pm. Please join for some very interesting presentations and general socialising!
